First muse
Greetings!
This blog is the result of the encouragement of my friend, Mel B. (No, not Mel B. from the Spice Girls.)
Earlier today, while she and I sat chatting in a coffee shop in the Ottawa area, we discussed many topics. One of those topics was about ways to earn money doing what we love... our passion.
I mentioned that one of my passions was to write, but that I had difficulty actually doing the writing. As I write the previous sentence, I become aware of its irony. One might argue that if something was a passion, it would not only be easy to do, but would probably be a compulsion. Nonetheless, I do consider storytelling as a passion of mine. I constantly fantasize about writing stories, especially screenplays. I suspect that I have some sort of block that prevents the actual act of writing. Since that is the most important aspect of writing, it would probably be a good idea to deal with it in some way.
My friend suggested starting a blog as a way of practicing the actual act of writing. This is exactly what she had done for herself, last year. The idea appealed to me. I realized that the blog need not be interesting or relevant to anyone at all; that would not be its primary purpose. Its primary purpose would merely be a place to practice sitting and writing. My intention is to write about whatever pops into my mind when I sit to write a new blog post. Rambling will be permitted.
I have been a professional computer programmer, by profession, for the past 22 years. It is interesting to note that this block that I mention does not exist for coding. I can code for hours at a time without missing a beat. Concepts and algorithms easily pop into my head. My Coding Muse is readily available. This blog aims to entice my Writing Muse to make herself known to me.
There... my first blog post is complete. 😄
